Set
close enough to a village to ensure a tranquil holiday and yet only
minutes mountain bike ride (through beautiful scenery) away from
the patisserie and other amenities.
Access
could not be easier with Geneva airport only 45 minutes away (ideal
for Easyjet and RyanAir flights from many UK locations) and Cluses,
the nearest motorway point, 15 minutes.
A
holiday in this lovely region of the Haute Savoie can be as relaxing
or energetic as you wish to make it. Days can be spent hill walking,
mountain bike riding, horse riding, white water rafting, canoeing,
canyoning or paragliding. However for those wishing a more relaxing
break there is trout fishing or just lazing by the river enjoying
the French way of life
Good Food, Good Wine and an unhurried
pace.
Nearby
Morillon offers a pretty lake for family picnics or swimming and
the medieval town of Samoëns has a superb swimming pool with
what must be the best view in Europe.
For
tremendous skiing in the winter time you are 5 minutes drive away
from the large Telecabine at Morillon transporting you up into the
huge ski area (260 kms of pistes) of the Grand Massif with plenty
of mountain restaurants and fine runs. Upon your return why not
call in one of the friendly bars in the village, or eat at the Savoyard
restaurants. See the 'Winter Fun' page for more details.
With
a new high-capacity telecabine system installed in Samoëns,the
chalet offers quick access to the pistes of the Grand Massif (this
links the five resorts of Samoëns, Morillon, Sixt, Les Carroz
and Flaine). You can drive to the Grand Massif Express lift in ten
minutes. Transport can be arranged if you do not have a car.
The area covers 260+kms of skiing - more than 130 runs at all levels
of ability with some of France's most modern high-capacity lifts.
Pistes range from the highest (2640m) at Flaine, with its spectacular
views of Mont Blanc, through to the challenging downhills of Samoëns
itself and the gentle slopes or pretty wooded trails of the family
skiing areas it shares with Les Carroz and Morillon. The remarkable
"Cascades" run from Flaine to Sixt is 16km long. There
are English-speaking instructors throughout the Grand Massif and
special facilities for minding small children.
In addition to this huge area there are also 67 kms of groomed cross
country ski tracks.
